Although I didn't realise it at the time, I had a bad start when I failed to notice the track down the west side of the out of bounds area (a golf course) to XA. I got 17 controls in the following order: XT, XB, XA, CI, XW, XC, XF, XD, AF, XG, XE, XJ, AC, XK, AD, AE, XP.
I fell over and grazed my hand and knee just before XD, my camelback ran out of water between XE and XJ (it appears to have developed a leak around the mouthpiece, I didn't drink it all) and I developed cramp as I ran down the hill out of AG. The cramp slowed me down in that last stretch and I ended up returning in 2 hours 2 minutes having covered a little over 23km. Last year my 21km had been good enough to win the 2 hour division, this year 23km could only manage a second place.
